A Study to Assess the Knowledge and Practice of Parents Regarding Home Management of Minor Ailments in Children Visiting Tertiary Care Hospital Mangaluru

Abstract Background The nation's future depends on its children. Minor illnesses are a common occurrence during childhood. It is crucial to evaluate parents' knowledge and practice when it comes dealing with minor illnesses. This study aimed assess the of parents regarding home management ailments in Methods descriptive research design was adopted for this study. sample consisted 65 under-5 children selected basis purposive sampling technique. Data collected using questionnaire checklist related including fever, upper respiratory tract infection (URTI; cough, cold, sore throat), diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal colic, superficial wound. from subjects were analyzed by inferential statistics. Results Study revealed that 80% had good knowledge, 20% moderate none them poor ailments. In terms practice, 55.4% 93.8% URTI, 43.1% managing diarrhea at home, 47.7% abdomen 56.9% vomiting 92.3% score wounds home.
